Getting Started - Large Scene Viewer (LSV)

Learn quick tips for using the LSV to visualize and analyze large scale 3D models.

Quick Start LSV Guidance

  1. Left click on the User Agreement page.

  2. Left click the menu tab in the upper left corner.

  3. In the drop-down menu, hover over Open Platform until the submenu appears, then left click an available Platform option.

  4. Upon platform launch, the LSV displays four windows that open by default:

    • Layer Management window - In the upper left corner

      • Allows you to customize the loaded layers in a current Scene

    • Search Tools window - On the left side of the screen

      • Provides a variety of search options for locating available attribute types and values

    • Attribute Data Table - In the upper right corner

      • Displays available data for a selected model

    • Clip Planes - In the lower right corner

      • Allows you to crop or trim a scene or layer to refine a loaded scene

  5. Use one or more tabs at the top of the Search Tools window to locate a specific Attribute Type and/or Attribute value.

    • Attribute Search (default) tab - Displays a list of available Attribute Types and Attributes

    • Attribute List Search tab - Provides a text window that allows users to search multiple attribute values simultaneously

    • Box Search tab - Searches within the bounds of a user-generated box scene

      • Left click and drag the minimum and maximum x, y, z axes slide bars to set the parameters

        • The LSV loads all available models within the set bounds

    • Location Search tab - Searches around the area of a specific attribute value

      • Left click and drag the lateral and vertical sliders to determine the search area

  6. Left click the button at the bottom of the Search Tools window to load a selected layer.

    • The layer loads into the scene in a randomized color

  7. In the Layer Management window → Layer Settings menu:

    • Customize the loaded layer by selecting either the Opaque, Transparent (default), Shadow, or Wireframe view

    • Change the default colors of the scene, 3D Models, and layer selection via the Scene Color, Model Color, and Select Color tabs, respectively

      • Left click a desire tab to open its specific color box

    • Click and drag the transparency slider to the value that enables an optimized view of the loaded scene

Help Drop-down Menu

Left click the menu tab, then left click About LSV to view the information shown below:

  • Application name

  • Company name

  • Current LSV version number

  • Company website

  • Product owner contact information

  • Support desk website
