Article summary

Use Go To cards in Beast Core 4 Courseware Editor to guide or teleport a learner to specific spaces in the Avatar Viewer or specific components in the System or Avatar Viewer.

Create a Go To Card

  1. Add an Environment Card to the Lesson Track

    • Use Avatar Viewer to show the learner specific spaces or components in first-person mode

    • Use System Viewer to show the learner specific Components on the 3D Model

      Typical Course Card Order

      Avatar Viewer

      (Space or components)

      1. Environment: Avatar Viewer

      2. Go To

      3. Find (optional card)

      System Viewer

      (Components)

      1. Environment: System Viewer

      2. Load 3D Systems

      3. Go To

Note

If desired, you may add multiple Go To cards below the same Environment card.

  1. Enter Layout Mode, add a Go To Card to the Lesson Track, then left click Edit Mode to customize the card

What are you looking for?

  • Space: Select this option to send the learner to a room, deck, or compartment in your simulation

    • Use the Search bar to select a Space by either typing the name of the Space you want or using the dropdown menu to find the correct Space

Note

The Space option can only be used in conjunction with an Environment card set to Avatar Viewer.

See the Environment Card article for more information.

  • Component: Use the Component option to send the learner to a specific component within the System Viewer environment

Note

When using a Go To: Component card with Avatar Viewer, you must first add a Go To: Space card. You have to load in the associated space so that you’re not just floating in nothingness when looking for or at the desired component. Your Lesson Track should look similar to this:

  • Position: Use the Position option and set coordinates to send the learner to a specific point within the System Viewer environment

Note

You can easily set the Position coordinates:

  1. Go to Beast Core, find your desired position, and press the ~ key on your keyboard to copy that exact position

  2. Return to Courseware Editor and select your Go To card for editing

    • Place your cursor in the first Position textbox

    • Press ctrl+v on your keyboard to paste the copied position coordinates into the textboxes

Note

Position can only be used in conjunction with an Environment card set to System Viewer.

See the Environment Card article for more information.

How would you like to get there?

  1. Set Options

  • Teleport/Demonstrate

    • Avatar Viewer

      • Teleport will place the learner in front of a Component or in the default load position of a Space

      Note

If you want a Go To (Space) card set to a particular load-in position, copy your desired coordinates in the Position section of your Go To card to override the default load position.

      • Demonstrate will create blue piping to direct a learner to the Component/Space

    • System Viewer

      • Teleport will place the learner in front of a Component

      • Demonstrate will dynamically move the camera to show a highlighted Component

Note

When filled out with a Space or Component Go To card, it will override the default position of the Space/Component.

  • This option is most often used to focus on a specific Space or Component instead of on the entire environment.

For example: When teleporting to a Space in Avatar Viewer, coordinates can be set to a load-in position that is not the default.

Select Pathing Algorithm (Component only)

Note

These options are only available for Go To: Component cards in the Avatar Viewer environment.

Allows you to change the selected pathing algorithm to find the most desirable result

  • Area Based
Default pathing algorithm - finds the simplest route

  • Most Walkable
Seeks to find a path that is less cluttered with Components

  • Override Space
Finds a path to a desired Component as if the Component were in another Space. This option is useful when Components span into different Spaces

    • Use the Override Pathing Space search bar to select the space of your choosing

      • Use your keyboard to enter your search terms or

      • Use the dropdown menu to select your space with your mouse
