Article summary

Use the General option in the LSV Prototype’s Settings Menu to change program settings for Decompress Instances, Overflow Loading, Print Debug, and Configure Thread Count.

Disable/Enable Decompress Instances

By default, the LSV Prototype loads the geometry to take advantage of instanced rendering, but you can disable it.

  1. Click Settings on the Navigation Bar, hover your mouse pointer on the General menu, then select the Disable Decompress Instances option.

  2. This action changes the amount of calculated VRAM (Video random-access memory).

    Note

Click View → Scene Metrics to view real time VRAM (Gb) data on the Scene Statistics window.

  3. Select Enable Decompress Instances on the Settings → General menu to return to the default setting.

Enable/Disable Overflow Loading

When a threshold amount of geometry has been loaded into the current layer, you can enable Overflow Loading and force Models to load in a separate layer.

To Enable Overflow Loading:

Click Settings on the Navigation Bar, click the arrow to open the General menu, and select the Enable Overflow Loading option.

To Disable Overflow Loading:

Return to the Settings → General menu and select Disable Overflow Loading.

Note

This reinstates the default setting, which is 40 million triangles.

Enable/Disable Print Debug

Print Debug uses the print () function to display text in the console that indicates where the program is executing and reports timings of various operations.

To Enable Print Debug:

Click Settings on the Navigation Bar, click the arrow to open the General menu, and select the Enable Print Debug option.

To Disable Print Debug:

Select Disable Print Debug in the Settings → General menu to return to the default setting.

Configure Thread Count

When decompressing geometry, you can control how many threads are used.

  • This affects things like how many internal buffers are mapped to each layer

  • Some Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) run better at a thread count of 4-8 if they are more load end

To Configure Thread Count

  1. Click Settings on the Navigation Bar, click the arrow to open the General menu, and select the Configure Thread Count option.

  1. In the Thread configuration popup window, click and drag the small blue slider in the threads box (or press Tab to type the value manually).

  2. Repeat Steps 1-2 if you need to change a previously-set thread count.
